direct quote from my mom after she found out that i was driving back to lubbock from odessa after the concert thursday.
yeah i kind of forgot to clue people (my mom, sister and such) in on my shenanigans until they were actually happening or happened. it all worked out in the end and i had an AMAZING weekend anyways.
i got to experience the coveted meet and greet. it was AMAZING. i totally was freaking out but tried to remain calm which i think i did remain reasonably calm. i just don't know if what i was saying made sense most of the time.
captured some really great moments.
there was this demon/gargoyle thing sitting on the counter of the room where the meet and greet was held that the guys said was atr's or something. basically it was full of ridiculousness/creepiness/ambiguity. i made a suggestion to take a picture with it.
travis justly got carried away.
i didn't take any pics of the show in odessa AND i really didn't have a chance to take pics at the show in lubbock.
the show in lubbock was CRAZY. it was sold-out. the venue sucked. the barrier was not stable so when trivium came on it fell along with the line of people along it.
my friends were along the barrier and i was right behind them. when the barrier fell like right when trivium started playing i was all concerned with getting them up. my arms are still sore (almost three days later) from keeping the "elbowing assholes" off of them.
my friends who i invited and experienced their first trivium show really liked it. well except for my ex which i guess explains why he is my ex. other than HIM everyone was raving about it afterwards. my friend chelsea, who was in front of me on the barrier caught one of matt's picks so she really was gibbering(:
oh i forgot to mention that i caught one of travis' drumsticks! in all the pics from the meet and greet i'm holding it. i didn't let it go until i got to my car. for good reasons.
i cannot thank trivium, melissa, xingu, and people involved enough! the meet and greet was INCREDIBLE!
the show was MARVELOUS! and the whole experience was MIRACULOUS! (i had to think of other words for amazing.)
now what i have to look foward to is shogun's release and then i'm back to the grind of school, work and life. music theory is really biting my ass this semester and work just sucks. oh well.
hope everyone stays safe and gets to experience a trivium show and all that comes with very soon!
loves
emily
p.s. here's a pic of my cage-fighter friend and paolo.

i thought it was cute. :>

much much has happened since my last post here for obvious reasons such as my last post being four months ago. time flies when you're having fun, i tell you what... :P so much has happened that i'm going to pretend that my life began last monday or so.
sooooo i don't know how much people pay attention to the news and whatnot but even if you slightly do then you couldn't have missed hurricane ike.
yeeeah i'm not currently living in houston (my sister and her family does though. they are one of the 5,000 in houston that actually has electricity now, which in my opinion means they are doing exceptionally well.) i'm in good ole' lubbock, texas. woo.
anyways.. due to the craziness occurring in the gulf with ike, lubbock as well as most of west texas experienced a hellofalot of rain from a change in pressure systems.
it rained everyday last week, until friday. which is extremely unusual for this area that is typically dry and desert-like.
thursday is when shit really hit the fan here in lubbock though. it rained consistently throughout the entire day. total number of inches in lubbock was about 8 inches i believe. which might not seem much to some but as i've said before lubbock is typically dry. lubbock's ground isn't up to that much water intake in that short of time. nor is lubbock's drainage system made with the chance of rain in mind.
what i'm getting at is last thursday i experienced flooding for the first time. i don't even seriously know how to drive in the rain AND i wouldn't know what to do if i had driven through water too deep for my little car.
i saw a car get swept away. people were rafting down streets that had been closed. classes were cancelled for friday. classes...they were cancelled.
i had no school friday. it had stopped raining that morning. the water had already started to recede. it basically was a free day. simply amazing. i had to go to work later but still wow.
here's some pictures. first is one of my friends about midway through the day in front of her apt.
and here's my school's football stadium (an important edifice for any west texas town).

that's about two feet (80,000 gallons) of water that they ... suctioned? out so the FOOTBALL game wouldn't be canceled. god forbid.
now that's done with and i got to experience history in lubbock i'm gearing up for TRIVIUM thursday and friday.
jesus i am fucking excited.
i typically appear to be a mellow, laid-back person to people in person so when i'm excited it goes unnoticed :( BUT this is the internet and i have the capability to use ALL CAPS!!! :D :D
GAME PLAN--
THURSDAY: i'm getting out of class noonish driving a couple of hours to odessa, texas, usa meeting up with a friend from high school who is a fellow triviumworlder and the only other triviumworlder that i know exists on this side of texas. we're then going to the show, meeting trivium, and enjoying the fuck out of their live performance.
MIDNIGHT-ISH THURSDAY: driving back to lubbock after concert. :-/
FRIDAY: class in the morning. napnapnap. TRIVIUM AGAIN!!! eeee!
seriously. this is probably the only time i'm going to get to do something like this so i'm going to try to make the most of it!!! happy birthday and merry christmas to me!
AND if anyone that reads this is going to either the odessa or lubbock shows then I WANT TO KNOW. my friend and i feel so lonely :(
'till whenever next time is, hope everyone stays safe and grabs the bull by the horns!
hugs and kisses
emily

blog. blooog blog. bah.
no matter what i can't keep up with blogs.
april was hell for me.
classes consumed my time and in my free time i worked.
but everything is easing up finally.
tuesday is my last final and i left guitar center last saturday :(
april did have a couple of concerts drizzled in it.
though due to a club having it's liquor license suspended a couple of concerts (the sword and dillinger) were cancelled >< i was pissed. :/
first, a group of friends from my hometown came up for a paramore concert. not a concert i would typically go to nor had i seriously listened to paramore prior but i did end up thoroughly enjoying them.

have to love lubbock and their talent of misconstruing.
i know they had reached their peak of popularity in the late 90s but someone had to know that their name was jimmy eat world.
next, one of my friend's band, set the seas on fire, opened for secret&whispers, catherine, gwen stacy, and still remains. it was their first show (did not know this) but you couldn't tell at all. they have several more shows lined up for may including a BBQ which sounds awesome to me :)
lead singer of still remains. a picture i like to call "spotlight dick".
last, behemoth, who of course killed it.
to my surprise one of the vocalist/bassist of the opening band was someone i went to high school with. i had talked to him earlier, knew he was in a band, but didn't know which one. turns out he was in arabyss. they ended up covering arch enemy and covered them well. surprised me. usually local metal bands aren't worth the time but i'm so glad i caught their set... and then proceeded to purchase their cd.
behemoth.

i love nergal. wish i had remembered i had a camera when blood came out of behemoth's eyes and mouths though :(
wellwell. thanks to anyone who took time to read.
i have to get to studying german.
been missing seeing my coworkers of guitar center everyday but i do love toaster strudels:)
loves you
emily
